Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Mason Kemeny, trading under the Mas0nk name, handles information through the Mas0nk website and Movie Night iOS app.
Effective date: 25 September 2026
Feature status: The Groups screen in the Movie Night source reviewed for this policy is a placeholder. Group creation, invitations and shared group records are not active in that version. This policy will need an update if group sharing is introduced.
1. Who is responsible
Mason Kemeny operates Mas0nk and is responsible for personal information handled through the website and Movie Night. Contact: mas0nk.dev@gmail.com.
2. Information Movie Night handles
Movie Night handles information you enter or choose to use in the app, including:
- Profile details such as your display name, preferred country, home theatre setup, equipment preferences, location or address notes, and host notes.
- Film and TV activity such as your watchlist, viewing status, ratings, notes, episode progress, dates, reminders and personal collections.
- Movie night event details such as event title, date and time, location, notes, and invitee names and email addresses that you add.
- App preferences, including appearance and sorting choices.
The app does not require a separate Movie Night account. It uses your existing Apple Account and iCloud for syncing where iCloud is available and enabled.
3. Contacts, calendar, camera and location search
Contacts: If you allow Contacts access, Movie Night reads names and email addresses from your contacts so you can select event invitees. It uses the selected details in the event you create. The app does not upload your entire address book to a Mas0nk server. You can deny or revoke Contacts access in iOS Settings and enter invitee details manually.
Calendar: If you allow write-only Calendar access, Movie Night can add or update an event in your calendar with its title, date and time, location and notes. The app does not read your calendar. Apple Calendar may sync the event using your own Apple settings.
Camera scanning: Movie Night can use the camera for its scanner. Text recognition is performed on your device. If you choose “Find Matches”, the recognised text is sent as a title search to The Movie Database (TMDB). The scanner does not send the camera image to Mas0nk.
Location search: If you search for a venue or address, the text you enter is sent to Apple MapKit to return place suggestions. The app does not request your device’s precise location in the version reviewed. You can also enter a location manually.
You can manage Contacts, Calendar, camera and notification permissions in iOS Settings. Movie Night reminders are scheduled as local notifications on your device.
4. iCloud storage and other services
Movie Night stores app records on your device and uses Apple CloudKit, through your private iCloud account, to sync app data across your devices. This can include profile details, watchlist and collection information, and movie night events. Apple processes and stores this information as part of its iCloud service. Mas0nk does not operate a separate Movie Night account database or app server. Apple’s handling is described in its Privacy Policy.
Movie Night also makes requests to these services to provide media information and features:
- TMDB: Movie Night sends film or TV search terms and TMDB identifiers to retrieve title, cast, artwork and related metadata. Artwork may be loaded from TMDB’s image service. See TMDB’s privacy policy.
- OMDb: The reviewed project is configured to enable external ratings when its OMDb API key is provided. It sends an IMDb identifier to retrieve ratings for a title. See the OMDb service terms.
- Apple iTunes Search: Movie Night sends a film title and country to find related iTunes movie information, such as previews or store links. Apple’s Privacy Policy applies to Apple’s handling.
- Apple MapKit: A location or venue search query is sent to Apple to provide place results. See Apple’s Location Services privacy information.
These providers may receive routine connection information, such as your IP address, device or browser details and request time, when your device makes a request. Their own terms and privacy practices govern their handling of that information.
5. Event invitations and disclosure
If you create an event invitation, Movie Night can create a calendar invitation file containing the event title, date and time, location, notes and the invitees’ names and email addresses you selected. The iOS share sheet lets you choose whether and how to share that file. The chosen email, messaging or file-sharing service and recipients will then receive the information in the file. Mas0nk does not send the invitation for you.
We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising. The Movie Night source reviewed does not include advertising or analytics SDKs. We may disclose information if required by law or where reasonably necessary to protect safety, rights or security.
6. Website information
The current website stores your display theme in your browser’s local storage. The newsletter form in the supplied website code only displays a confirmation in the browser; it does not submit or save your email address. If a mailing service is connected later, this policy will be updated before email addresses are collected.
The website loads fonts from Google Fonts and JavaScript libraries from the unpkg content delivery network. Those services receive connection information when your browser requests these resources. The website host may also create technical access logs, such as IP address, browser type, requested page and request time. The repository does not identify the live hosting provider or its log retention period, so those details should be confirmed against the actual deployment before publication.
7. Storage, retention and deletion
Movie Night data remains on your device and in iCloud for as long as it is stored there. You can edit or remove individual events and collections in the app. iCloud syncing and storage are controlled by Apple and your device settings. Turning off iCloud for Movie Night stops syncing but does not necessarily delete existing iCloud data. You can manage or delete third-party app data in your Apple Account’s iCloud storage settings. The version reviewed does not provide a single in-app control to erase all Movie Night data. To request help with access, correction or deletion, email mas0nk.dev@gmail.com. Because the app’s database is in your private iCloud account, we cannot inspect or directly manage its contents from a Mas0nk server. Deleting the app from your device may not delete its iCloud data.
Information sent to Apple, TMDB, OMDb or other services is subject to their own retention practices. Their own privacy and retention practices apply.
8. Overseas handling and security
Apple, TMDB, OMDb, Google Fonts, unpkg and website infrastructure may process technical request information outside Australia, including in the United States or other countries where their services operate. The location used for a particular request depends on the provider. Review each provider’s current privacy information for more information.
We take reasonable steps to protect information we hold. Movie Night’s cloud sync is provided by Apple CloudKit, and app access to Contacts, Calendar and camera is controlled through Apple’s permission system. No internet service can be guaranteed completely secure.
9. Children
Movie Night is a general audience app and is not designed to collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us at the email below.
10. Access, complaints and contact
You can update information in the app where controls are available and can ask us about personal information we handle by emailing mas0nk.dev@gmail.com. We will review and respond to privacy complaints. If you are not satisfied with our response and the Australian Privacy Act applies, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
